Where Better Stack is better

  • On-call scheduling. Rotas, escalation policies, phone calls, an incident timeline, handover. If you have a team taking turns being woken up, this is a category we do not compete in.
  • Log management. They fold in log search and infrastructure metrics. We monitor endpoints and jobs, nothing more.
  • Status page polish. Their status pages are more configurable than ours, with custom domains on paid plans. Ours is deliberately simple.
  • Phone-call alerts. They will ring you. We will not, and for a genuine 3am page that matters.

Where we are better

  • WhatsApp, where most of the world actually is. Better Stack does not send WhatsApp. In Pakistan, India, Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia and most of Europe outside the US, that is the messaging app people actually read.
  • An assistant you can reply to. Answer the alert and ask what is down, acknowledge it, or mute a noisy monitor for an hour — from the thread, without opening a laptop. Nothing else in this category does this.
  • Client reports. A shareable monthly page for the person paying you. Better Stack reports to your own team; it has no concept of your client.
  • Simpler, and cheaper for one person. Most of Better Stack's value is in the on-call machinery. If you are the entire rota, you are paying for a scheduler with one name in it.
  • Visitor analytics included. Cookieless traffic and Core Web Vitals from Pro. They do not.

The honest summary

If you run a team with a rota and want incident management in the same place as your logs, Better Stack is the better product and it is not close. If you are one person or a small agency answering to clients, you would be buying an on-call system for a rota of one — and the things you would actually use every week, WhatsApp and a report you can forward, are the two things it does not have.
